Craving Cranberries at Sherwood Inn

Updated: Sep 25

Did you know the nearby town of Bala is the cranberry capital of Ontario? Yup, that's right! If you're craving cranberries, you've come to the right place, and we're excited to be participating in Muskoka Tourism's Cranberry Route once again this season.

Over the course of the Cranberry Route, our lunch and dinner menu will be featuring “The Cranberry Turkey Melt Sandwich". This sandwich is seriously good. Don't believe us? Check it out: it's made with our own smoked fresh turkey, grilled on an artisan walnut cranberry bread loaf with Swiss cheese and arugula, and is served with sweet yam fries and chipotle cranberry aioli... YUM!

This part of Muskoka is famous for cranberries; just down the road is Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery, which is the oldest cranberry farm in Ontario, and the only cranberry farm in the world with its own on-site winery! Spend your days taking the cranberry plunge exploring the marshes, and check out their famous bog-to-bottle tour too! We're just a quick 10 minute drive away. Maybe while you're here, ask our Reservations Team about booking a round of golf at Rocky Crest Golf Resort or The Lake Joseph Club too!

The cranberry craziness doesn't stop at our lunch and dinner menu. Our cocktail menu will be featuring The Cranberry Bourbon Smash made of cranberry simple syrup, Woodford bourbon, cranberry juice and garnished with rosemary and fresh cranberries - the perfect compliment to Chef Jose's delicious Cranberry Turkey Melt Sandwich.

Make sure to mark your calendar for Friday, October 18th - Sunday, October 20th because the Bala Cranberry Festival will be taking place, and you won't want to miss it! With an estimated attendance of over half million people over the last 35 years, it's become quite the event here in Muskoka.
